The Sacred Valley´s Zip-Line offers the opportunity to people of all ages, to fly over that magnificent place, in a safe and fun way. This Zip-Line is composed of 6 lines or cables of 100 to 500 m. long, for a total length of 2,000 m. The guide hooks you up to the cables, by means of a pulley fixed to the harness. In order to get to the first cable, you will go on a beautiful 35-minute hike, some parts of which are equipped with Via Ferrata (See our Via Ferrata Program), to give maximum security and trust to our adventurers. No previous experience is required.
Place: The activity takes place in Pachar, between the localities of Urubamba and Ollantaytambo, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Difficulty Level: Easy. You don´t need to have previous experience in equal or similar activities.
What is a Zip-Line or Canopy?
A Zip-Line, Flying Fox, Zip Wire, Aerial Runway, Death Slide or Tyrolean Crossing consists of a pulley suspended to cables attached to a mountain slope. It is designed so that the user is propelled by gravity, and slides downward, from its upper part to its lower end, on a steel cable.
Who can use the Zip-Line?
Minimum age to use the Sacred Valley´s Zip-Line is 6 years old.
What equipment is being used?
We use a canopy harness (Pulley, strap and 3 carabineers), a helmet, gloves and a Via Ferrata set.
Security on the Zip-Line:
All sections between two Zip-Line cables are equipped with a Via Ferrata system, for greater safety. The cables have been tensed in such a way that users lose speed as they get closer to the end of each cable. In the case of the last cable, users must break their speed down. Therefore, an assisted brake has been installed, on the pulley system, so that the guide might action it, to break the user´s speed, if necessary.
All our guides are mountain guides trained in vertical rescue and first-aid.
What should I take along?
Wear light clothes and good shoes you have already used, and feel comfortable in, like sneakers (Tennis shoes), light hiking boots, etc. Do not wear sandals, and preferably, wear pants (Trousers).
Remember that, as you climb-up, temperatures might drop, especially from 5:00 p.m. onward or be fresh, when you leave Cusco, at 8:00 a.m., and there will be more wind blowing, towards the top of the rock wall. So, take a sweater (Pullover), windbreaker jacket or vest along, in a small daypack, together with at least 2 liters of spring mineral water, preferably, without gas.
